David and Lilian Alleyn formed the School of Japanese Karate North London in 1978 together with their son Brian and daughter Christine.
David, a Sports Psychologist is Chief Instructor and holds the rank of Shihan (Master, or Teacher of Teachers), he is a 6th Dan Black Belt in Karate and 1st Dan in Ju-Jitsu and is a qualified tournament referee.
Lilian holds a 4th Dan Black Belt in Karate, 1st Dan in Ju-Jitsu and Cert. Chinese Medicine.
Brian is a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Karate and has won a number of national competitions.
Christine 2nd Dan Karate is a qualified Black Belt Instructor. Her daughters, Debbie and Melissa, are coloured belt students.(Making a 3rd generation in karate.)

DAVID AND LILIAN RUNNERS-UP SPORTSPERSON/TEAM OF THE YEAR 2004
DAVID AND LILIAN ALLEYN PROPRIETORS OF THE SCHOOL OF JAPANESE KARATE WERE JOINT RUNNERS-UP IN THE RECENT "SPORTS PERSON/TEAM OF THE YEAR" IN THE PALACE GARDENS PRIDE OF NORTH LONDON AWARDS - THERE WERE OVER 1,000 NOMINEES.
THE WINNERS OF THE AWARD WERE THE ENFIELD SPECIAL OLYMPICS TEAM - THE AWARDS WERE GIVEN AT A CHAMPAGNE RECEPTION/ DINNER AT ALEXANDRA PALACE BY LORD TEBBIT.
The karate style they and their team of black belt instructors teach in Enfield/North London is based on
the traditional teachings of Master Gichin Funakoshi and Masatoshi Nakayama of the Japan Karate Association,
(together with modern day self defence).
Both David and Lilian have studied Shotokan Karate and Self Defence for over 30 years under some of the top
Japanese Instructors in the world, such as: Kanazawa, Asano, Enoeda, Kato, Kawasoe, Kase, Ohta and
K. Funakoshi, Sensei.
They also pride them-selves in the fact that some of their old students are now teaching Shotokan Karate
in different parts of the world as well as in England.
They have also worked "hand in hand" with the "Local Police" and "The Guardian Angels" to improve safety in
Enfield and North London.
