David and Lilian Sensei would like to congratulate all who Graded on the 27th April 2008.

The turn out and the quality of Karate on the day was, once again, what we have come to expect at our Club.

Congratulations to all and a big thank you to the SJK Instructors who helped promote the high standard shown on the day.

Black Belt & Kyu Grading Sunday 25th November 2007

Once again we are pleased to say a very big "well done" to all the students who took their grading on Sunday 25th November 2007.

Sensei David and Lilian were very pleased with the standard and wish to congratulate everyone,

including the SJK Instructors who helped to promote the high quality of karate shown on the day.

Special Congratulations go to:

Fabio Correia  3rd Dan Pass - Sandan

Neil Charalambous 2nd Dan Pass - Nidan

Alex Ruhinda 1st Dan Pass - Shodan

Nicholas Coke 1st Dan Pass - Shodan

Please see below email from one of SJK's happy parents

Just a few lines to tell you how much I enjoyed watching the Karate Grading on Sunday.

It was a fantastic idea to have the Shodan and higher Dan gradings at the same time as the lower grades.

It was thrilling and exciting to watch the advanced Katas ( spectacular Unsu by Fabio !) and especially the Kumite ( with flashes of Kyokushin- might I add !)

I think that all your students that were present have been given a clear message of encouragement and motivation in order to reach their ultimate goal in obtaining their Black Belt status and beyond !

Hopefully my Son Riccardo will achieve his next year !

I hope Sensei Lillian is OK, I know she is missed at the Friday Broomfield class.

Kind regards,

Salvatore Dinatale.

SJK Kyu Grading took place yesterday - Sunday 17th July and the standard was very high. Well done to all students and to all instructors who helped make this a successful occasion.

Thank you to Chris for his email (see below)

Dear David and Lilian Sensei, Thank you for the grading today. It must have been very painful for you Sensei David, having had a tooth extraction. I know the feeling, I've had a couple of those myself. I'm very pleased to have passed today, as is Stephen. I had in fact done enough lessons to have graded in April but I didn't feel confident enough to put myself forward. I'm glad that I left it until today. I felt much more confident and the additional training and time spent practicing at home seems to have paid off. Thank you once again and please thank the other instructors whose patience and perseverance with me is much appreciated. Oss. Chris Chessum

Another great Grading result for SJK on Sunday 24th April 2005

Not only did we have the usual excellent kyu grading results but we had 3 of our more mature brown belt students successfully passing their Shodan black belts. Congratulations to : Neil Charalambous 1st Dan, John Bienek 1st Dan and Nicholas Herculis 1st Dan - All have done well in training hard to obtain their black belts and  a special mention for Nic as it wasn't that long ago that he had a serious heart operation.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL SJK STUDENTS ON A SUCCESSFUL GRADING

Over 70 kyu grade students graded for different coloured belts on Sunday 5th December 04 and all successfully passed the various grades.

Following the Kyu grades with some dynamic and explosive action was the black belt grading of Harry Bradford  and Loui Loizou - both performed to the highest level and passed with flying colours

Harry aged 8 is the youngest student of SJK to pass his black belt since the school started in 1978. He is probably one of the youngest karate students in the country to have passed his black belt

Loui returned to train at SJK a couple of years ago after a 20 year lay off. With determination he has trained very hard several times a week and helped with the junior classes and thoroughly deserved to pass his black belt grading

More pictures below -  Thanks once again to Chris Chessum 8th kyu

PROUD NEW SJK BLACK BELTS - JULY 2004.

David and Lilian Alleyn and their team of black belt instructors from Enfield based School of Japanese Karate, were proud to have helped five of their top brown belts to achieve the coveted black belt on Sunday.

More than 70 coloured belt students from the School of Japanese Karate, who earlier had successfully passed their own gradings, were treated to some exciting advanced karate techniques from the five prospective black belts who took and passed with "flying colours" the arduous black belt test.

Well done to you all!

Thanks once again to Chris Chessum for the photos and the "thank you "email for his and his son's grading.

Thanks also to Anna Christofides for her phone call expressing thanks to David and Lilian Sensei and all instructors  for their help  and support .

We have also received a letter from Joe and Ben Stockwell thanking David and Lilian Sensei and all black belts who have helped them reach Sho Dan.

We hear that Sensei Kevin (Wednesday advanced  class Instructor) received a nice bottle of wine from one of his grateful students - cheers Kevin!

Congratulations on a brilliant grading!

Over 60 students graded for their lower grade belts and all passed successfully. Well done to everyone.

The next Black Belt Grading is at: Chace Community School, Enfield, on 11th July following the coloured belt grading.

Five students from Enfield based School of Japanese Karate took a very exciting and arduous test for their coveted Black Belt Grade on Sunday.  Petite young lady, Reema Joshi age l5, Divyan Shah also l5 and Anil Patel age 32 passed their lst Dan Black Belts.  Anil who has just moved to Birmingham made the journey back to Enfield to take his grading.   Masasu Kola age 43 and Fabio Correia  (Assistant Instructor) age 18 both successfully passed their 2nd Dan  Black Belts. All faught brilliantly to obtain their grades and were applauded for their outstanding efforts.

The email below was received by David and Lilian Sensei.

"I just wanted to take the time to officially say a big thank you to the
club, but in particular to Anna Christofides for helping me through my
first grading. I don't think that I have ever been taught anything
with such kindness, enthusiasm, and dedication before. Anna would
always take the time to explain everything to the class clearly, and she
would always make sure that we understood what was expected of us. She
was also always very patient of our mistakes.

It was through her encouragement and (very) hard work that I found the
enthusiasm to pursue Karate, and thanks to her that I was able to gain
my orange belt, something, which, back in February when she took over
our beginner's class, I did not have the confidence to believe I would
be able to do.

She is a credit to SJK Karate and I hope that she continues to inspire
others the way that she inspired me!

Thanks
Alex Maisey"
