Our
style of karate comes from "the land of the rising sun" Japan. It encompasses
all that is good. It is not, as many people think, a form of aggression. It is
the very opposite. Our aim is to make Karate a means of helping others in
times of stress. To defend family and friends, to control the power
learned and channel it to do good. Never to make the first attack and to show
respect to others at all times.
We believe it is not enough for someone just to obtain a black belt and to start
teaching. It requires an understanding of human nature and consideration of
peoples needs, be it teaching adults or children.
We offer a
world of opportunity
for improved mental and physical health which can be gained from a quality
karate club such as ours. Our training opens the doorway to building greater
self-confidence. The benefit of self-defence is obvious, but it is only a small
part of what can be gained. Our style of karate builds stamina, strength, flexibility, and
coordination. People can also learn and develop calmness, greater alertness,
patience, and self-discipline.

SJK Shotokan Karate was established in Enfield in 1978 by
martial arts husband and wife team,
David and Lilian Alleyn.
They have taught the martial art of shotokan karate and self defence all over England and the UK for
well over 30 years and are both professional Martial Arts teachers.
Many martial arts clubs in UK and abroad are run by their old students.
Both David and Lilian have studied Shotokan
Karate and Self Defence under the top Shotokan Japanese Martial Arts Masters: Kanazawa Sensei, Asano Sensei, Enoeda
Sensei, Kato Sensei, Kawasoe Sensei, Kase Sensei, Ohta Sensei and K. Funakoshi, Sensei.
They now have, three Enfield Karate
Classes, two Southgate Karate Clubs, a Karate School at Arnos Grove, Cockfosters Martial Arts School, Edmonton
Karate Dojo, North London Shotokan Karate Clubs.
With training for Beginners,
Intermediate and Advanced students. Over 20 Black Belt Students and Instructors
train at their Enfield based Schools and Clubs
Shihan David is the
Enfield/North London SJK Karate Chief Instructor - 6th Dan Master of Karate (Teacher of Teachers) He
is Qualified Referee and
has studied Sports Psychology.
Lilian
is a 4th Dan Shotokan Karate Sensei (Teacher).
